Fudo / Install help

Installing Fudo on Android

Fudo is currently distributed directly while the Samsung Galaxy Store listing is under review. Android shows a warning when you install an app from outside a store. That warning is expected for any app installed this way, and this page walks through exactly what you will see.

Current build: v1.0.0 · about 20 MB · Android 8.0+

Download fudo-v1.0.0.apk

Steps

  1. Download. On the home page, tap Download for Android. Your browser saves a file called fudo-v1.0.0.apk. Some browsers ask you to confirm the download first.
  2. Open the file. Pull down your notifications and tap the completed download, or open your Files app and look in Downloads.
  3. Allow the install. If Android says “For your security, your phone is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source,” tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then tap Back. This permission applies only to the browser you downloaded from and can be turned off again afterwards.
  4. Install and open. Tap Install, wait a few seconds, then tap Open. Create an account with your email address, add your child and their allergens, and you are ready to scan.

If something gets in the way

Play Protect blocked the install. Tap More details, then Install anyway. Play Protect flags any app that is not yet listed on Google Play. It is not a judgment about this app specifically.

The download will not open. Make sure the download finished. A partial file will not install. Delete it and download again from the home page.

My phone says the app is not compatible. Fudo needs Android 8.0 or newer. To check your version, open Settings, then About phone.

Samsung phone. You can install using the steps above today. When the Galaxy Store listing is approved, a store link will appear on the home page and you can install from there instead.

iPhone. There is no iPhone version yet. Join the waitlist from the home page and you will get one email when it is available.

Updating later

When a new version is released, download the new file from the home page and open it. Android will update the existing app in place. Your account and saved scans are kept.

Removing Fudo

Uninstall the app the same way as any other app. To also delete your account and all saved data, open Settings inside the app first and tap Delete account.
